After graduating from Washington State University, Tom and I taught high school and raised two kids in Portland, Oregon. When the youngest graduated from high school, we signed on with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools allowing us to combine teaching with our love of travel. We started in Japan, then went to The Azores, Portugal; Vicenza, Italy; back to Japan, and retired from Wiesbaden, Germany. We retired in 2005, moved back to our house in Portland, then retired again to Maui where we have lived 2 years while remodeling an old house.

Grant lives in Santa Ana, California with his son, he is a teacher of the Visually Impaired. Cary, husband Kurt and kids live in Osaka, Japan and are affliliated with Senri International School where Kurt is the middle/high school principal.
