Spouse: Richard O'Donnell
Children: 1 son, Sean, married to Shelley. Shelley has an autism clinic in Seattle. They have 2 children, Logan and Maria. I get to babysit for them a lot.
Home: Bellevue, WA

My husband Rich is still working to support his wife (married June 17, 1966). He is an investment advisor with Ragen McKenzie in Bellevue.

Son Sean O'Donnell is currently a senior deputy prosecutor with King County. He is running for King County Superior Court judge so he needs your vote if you live in King County! The vote is August 7th. It is a primary vote for most races, but it is the FINAL vote for the position he is running for. He has lots of great endorsements, including one Charles Burdell. http://www.odonnell4judge.org/

My passion, besides my family, is golf. Love it.

Generally life is treating me well.

Mary's profile by Charlie Burdell:

Mary McDonald’s first class on Mercer Island was Mrs. Knowles’ 4th grade class at Mercer Crest Elementary. Barbie Heard arrived in the 7th grade and they became best friends. They were in every class together, but Mary’s report cards had negative remarks in the area of “good citizenship”! Apparently, Mary and Barbie spent considerable amounts of class time, whispering, passing notes and otherwise tittering to the constant consternation of the teachers. The parents solved the problem and Mary and Barbie were never in the same classes again, until their Senior year at MIHS.

Mary began her college career at the University of Washington in 1966, pledging Alpha Delta Pi sorority along with our classmate, Meg Strandberg and Eddy Keever’s future wife, Karen Kingman. After a few years studying Finance, she decided to take some time off and went to work in downtown Seattle for Peoples Bank as a teller. Her boss, Rich O’Donnell, took an immediate liking to her, although he had a rough start because Mary, competitive in everything, beat him constantly at tavern shuffleboard and bowling. Finally, he popped the question on New Year’s Eve 1965. She said yes and they were married the following June 17, 1966. They will celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary this coming June 2016. On the day of their wedding, Rich’s status as “the boss” was quickly reversed and Mary took over!

Mary describes herself as “insane about golf”. She took up the game with Rich when their son, Sean, was about 7 years old. Mary mother’s interest in frequently babysitting Sean gave Mary time to hone her game. She and Rich joined Overlake Golf and Country Club and Mary was on her way. She was Women’s Club Champion, served on the board and became the first female President of the club.

She also has been active in amateur golf in the Pacific Northwest. She is a frequent competitor in all sorts of Seattle Women’s Golf Association and Washington State Women’s Golf Association competitions. Her competitive nature is evident on the golf course. One of her long-time golfing partners describes her as follows:

“. . . Mary’s the only woman I know who insists on all sorts of competitions going on simultaneously while we’re playing: she gives points for “Murphy’s” (up and down from off the green, but you only get a point if you call it ahead of time) and “Poleys” (one-putting a putt longer than the length of the flagpole) as well as the usual KPs, long drives, etc., etc., etc. And more often than not, she’s the winner.”
