Occupation: retired school teacher

For the past 50 years:
After graduating from University of Puget Sound, I taught school for ten years.
I married Ed in 1971 and we moved to Mercer Island in 1974 where we have lived ever since.
I taught one year in Germany, two years in the Peace Corps in Tunisia, and seven years in Bellevue.
I especially enjoyed raising my kids and getting involved in their activities. I volunteered in church, in classrooms, and leading Camp Fire groups. I was a substitute teacher for many years on Mercer Island. After my parents died, I moved into my childhood home on Mercer Island. Ed & I have always enjoyed attending musical theatre and sporting events, water activities in Lake Washington, and have been active in our church. Now that Ed & I have retired we enjoy traveling. We snorkel on the beaches of Maui, ski at Whistler Mtn. and Stevens Pass, visit my sister in Germany and take cruises.
We spend a lot of time with our grandchildren. Two of our daughters' families live nearby as do my brother, Larry and sister, Lauralee.

My future plans are to continue enjoying time with family and travel with my husband.

I have very fond memories of living on Mercer Island, a small and very caring community with excellent schools. I feel priveleged to have grown up here and to raise my family here, too. I remember the football and basketball games, and the dances in the Mushroom afterward. I remember participating in a myriad of extra-curicular activities. I remember swimming on the swim team at the Mercer Island Beach Club and spending many summer days there. I remember riding the ski bus and learning to ski with the ski school. I enjoyed marching in the drill team and participating in Horizon Club (a division of Camp Fire). I enjoyed waterskiing, sailing & canoeing on
the shores of Lake Washington.
