I joined AWSG about 10 years ago. I started learning to both weave and spin when I joined the guild. After teaching my daughter to knit, she started working in a yarn shop in Bozeman, MT during college. She got interested in learning to spin and introduced me to this group.

I love the guild challenges, which inspired me to sew a vest from my first woven yardage. I’ve also enjoyed the classes and workshops and learning from each of the talented members of the group - so inspiring.

My bucket list project is another woven garment. Since I love to sew, I want to make something I will truly treasure and wear a lot from my woven fabric. I love my e-spinner and small tabletop 8-shaft Mountain Loom.

Locally, the guild’s fashion show was inspirational to me. Shetland Wool Week was my first international travel for a fiber-related event. It was awesome!

I encourage members to find a mentor and get help when you need it. Our skilled members are so helpful and delighted to be assisting someone wanting to learn these crafts. I would be willing to help mentor those looking for help knitting handspun yarn or sewing garments from woven fabric.
