I've been working for the New York Times now for 14 years, about three times as long as I have ever been able to hang onto a job before. When my bosses are not in earshot I call myself the Cosmic Affairs Correspondent. I have long shirked any editing duties I might have once had. Nancy also works for the Times although we did not meet there. We met the old-fashioned way, at an art gallery one night.

We live in Manhattan. I'm still the author of two books, Lonely Hearts of the Cosmos, and Einstein in Love, and I'm still thinking about the third one.

In my house, Pluto is still a planet.
